Summer Evening Walks

During the summer months here in Peyton, CO, it often clouds up and a lovely, cool rain will shower down to take the edge off the hot summer day. What better time to take a nice stroll down the dirt road right out in front of Ryan and Sadie's country home. All the dogs join in and it is truly a family event. The kids get to run off that last bit of energy for the day and spend some quality time with mom and dad. The air gets crisp and the sky turns multiple shades of gray, blue and orange. Its a little slice of heaven.

Our 4 mile hike begins at Drakesbad. Two miles in and two miles out. It wouldn't have been so bad except it rained the entire time. I had to make a special raincoat for my camera. This little spring was at the trailhead. The water was warm. See the steam coming off of it?

Check out the mud on my feet. It was like walking with gravity boots on.

I think Dean is sinking into the trail. This place was so beautiful even if it did stink like sulfur.

This is where Dean thought we should have lunch. Looks funky but the food was actually pretty good. I had grilled ham and cheese and Dean had a burger.

Inside the Mineral Cafe. It was cozy inside. Nice considering it was snowing outside. They have a bar and a billiards room in the back.

"Libya's ragtag rebels in Zawiya succumbed Thursday to better armed and organized government soldiers after enduring a week of attacks that left the coastal city strewn with the debris of war.
The city's main Martyrs' Square was littered with the bombed-out, scorched carcasses of army tanks and other military vehicles.
Workers were sweeping up the evidence as supporters of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi chanted slogans and waved green flags.
"Today Zawiya, tomorrow Benghazi," ITV News' Bill Neely said a Gadhafi supporter told him in a reference to Libya's main rebel-held city in the east."
